blog:6 i know the truth, so don't bother me with facts

The article " I know the truth, so don't bother me with facts" explains how people was influnced by rumors, and people will hardly changed their mind, even though the rumors are proved to be wrong by rebuttals. The author of the article also suggests people to think before they believe, because at least those facts do prove something for us.

I agree with the author's idea. I think our mind are essliy affected by what we always believe or we accustom to do and it reminded me that people found out the weakness of us long tieme ago. Plato wrote a story named "Alleory of the cave" told us that people live in illusions without thinking about which was truth.

In the story, there was a group of prisoners who were not able to see anything behind them and what they could see was only the shadows. When one prisoner was released, he was able to see the real world. He went back to the cave and told everyone who hadn't see the real things. No one believed him, because every one lived in the cave all believed that the reality was what they saw on the wall.

In conlusion, we live in a world filling with informations now. People need to know how to use those informations and figure out what is truth or not truth. Just like the article tells us, thinking about the truth, then decide what you are going to believe.

blog:4 The Allegory of the Cave

"The Allegory of the Cave" explains a weekness of humanity which is about choosing to believe the illusion but not the truth. The author used a story to support his point of veiw. He used the "cave" and "light" to express the connection between the illusion and truth.
In the story, there was a group of prisoners who were not able to see anything behind them and what they could see was only the shadows. When one prisoner was released, he was able to see the real world. He went back to the cave and told everyone who hadn't see the real things. blog 3: i know the truth, so don't bother me with facts

The author of this article tried to explained how people's belief were changed easily by mass media. In the article, the author used some poplar rumors to start the article. The author can't not believe that some people trust HIV was made by government lab. The author's idea about the humanity is that people are easily misdirected by rumors. Then the author moved his discussion to the mosque which is going to build in Manhattan. The author supported his idea by using the example of the mosque and the imam, such like people believed the imam was a terrorist, because his speech is about american involvement in wars. By using the result of the experiment, it tells us that people were changed their mind by reading the rebuttals.

blog 2: "Hype"

Nowadays, advertisements are ubiquitous in our life. The article "Hype" is about this popular appearance. By using particular numbers and examples, the article showed us how many useless information we receive everyday; it surrounds us everywhere even we are doing other things. The author expressed his idea that there were no place we could run away from the ads in our life and the quantity of those mental pollutants are still increasing. I also think the same way with the author, our life need a pure land that we will not be affected by those commercial.

I live in Flushing, most people here are Chinese. When I walk on the street, i always meet many people give out the fliers of cram school. Because of many cram school are located in the community, so I sometimes can get fliers at every corner of the block. I still remember that one day i went to laundry. On my way to the laundry i got one flier and on my way back i got the same one from different people. Also, the cram schools like hire teenager or senior to give out those fliers. I always feel embarrassed if i don't accept fliers from those two kind of people. For the reason of environment protection, I changed my mind that i won't accept any fliers if it's not necessary. Further more, there are many people are hired by some massage place. They always stand at the most crowded place and peddle the massage business. Now i really can't not afford those pollutants in my community. I'm afraid to go to the main street of Flushing.

Every business has the right to let people know them well, but people also has the right to choose the information. Now the advertisement leave us no choice. When i walk on the street, i have to face to those fliers. When i watch TV, i have to wait for the commercial. When i take a subway, the ads are everywhere from the outside of the train to the inside. Even more i have to watch the commercial before i watch the video on Youtube. People need a silent place to live. More public service announcement in the public place. The commercials are enough on the TV.

Blog 1: "How to do one thing at a time"

The article "How to Do One Thing at a Time" is about how multi-tasking can be dangeous when people do something that needs us to focus. Also, as a result of an experiment, tested by Stanford University, multi-taskers can't do as much as single-taskers do during the same time. According to a huge amount of evidence, the auther suggested people shouldn't do more than one task at a time. I agree with the author's idea. I believe that multi-ttasking is a bad habit since i was young because it always makes us pay a lot and get less.

There was a tory told to every child in China in order to explain how badly multi-tasking affected us. In the story, there were two pussy cats. One day, they were brought to fishing by their mother. Once they arrived at the river, they began fishing. The white pussy cat was focusing on fishing all the time. The black pussy cat did fishing  all the time. The black pussy cat did fishing in a different way. He was atracted by many things around him. At first , he went to play with a butterfly, then he went back to fishing .Later, his sight of view moved to a fruit tree and he went to clam it. Not until their mother decided to go home, did the black cat feel tired. He kept doing other things while fishing. At the end , he didn't  catch any fish. On the other hand, his brother ,the white cat caught a lot of fish. The story tells us when people try to do multi-tasking, they can never  get what they expect, because our hearts can't be seperated into many pieces.

In conclusion, I think people really need to care about the bad habit of multi-tasking. It does happen in everyone's life. I think most of us missed the stop when we read books on the subway or bus. It wastes our time to back to the stop we missed and we might forget what we have read before. I suggest everyone do your work one by one and it will not make you slow down.
